Sculpture by the Lakes

Wednesday 13 July 2011

Hidden along the tranquil valley of Dorset's River Frome lies England's newest sculpture park, Sculpture by the Lakes. Amongst 26 acres of ponds, pools, bubbling streams, lakes and the lazy river, meander paths and trails through meadows and woodland, along riverbanks and ewer bridges. A haven for Wildlife, Sculpture by the Lakes marries the soft beauty of nature's Wild river landscape with the more formal presentation of monumental outdoor sculpture. It is that combination of art and landscape that inspires Sculpture by the Lakes. Whether it is work on a monumental scale that relates to its environment or smaller works that personalise more intimate areas, each sculpture has been placed to visually enhance its surroundings.

Sculpture by the Lakes will be open from 4th-19th June, II.am-6.00pm daily, Entry fee I5.00, in aid of Help for Heroes. There is no need to make a booking during this time. After 19th June 2011, entry to Sculpture by the Lakes will be by appointment only. Booking in advance is essential. Entry fee II 0.00 per person. (No concessions) No catering facilities but visitors are welcome to bring a picnic. A map and sculpture guide can be downloaded from the website.
