Dorset sculptor raises £8,000 for heroes' charity with new venture

A DORSET sculptor has handed over a cheque for £8,000 to Help for Heroes, Sculptor Simon Gudgeon raised the money during the opening of his new sculpture park, Sculpture by the Lakes, near Dorchester.
He personally, attended the opening of the first phase of the charity's Personnel Recovery and Assessment Centre at Tedworth House at Tidworth in Wiltshire, to hand over the cheque.
Mr Gudgeon said: “We were delighted to help this amazing charity. We were overwhelmed by the response to the opening of Sculpture by the Lakes and so pleased we could contribute to Help for Heroes and their superb work in helping our injured servicemen and women."
Sculpture by the Lakes is the only single-artist sculpture park in the country. Simon Gudgeon is one of Britain's leading contemporary sculptors.
The park features more than 19 unique bird and animal sculptures, as well as gardens and benches, set among 20 acres of lakes in the Frome Valley near Dorchester. Visits to Sculpture by the Lakes can be booked online at www.sculpturebythe lakes.co.uk
